Our group journey began in Gambia, where we met Joshua. From the very start, we gained incredible insights into the local culture and had a fantastic time!

The adventure continued as we traveled south by bus to Guinea-Bissau, eventually boarding traditional pirogues to reach the true paradise of Bubaque Island. This is far from your typical beach holiday; we immersed ourselves in the heartbeat of the island, visiting traditional villages and local cashew farms.

I can honestly say I had the absolute best time of my life. I highly recommend traveling with Joshua—his knowledge of West Africa is astonishing, and he ensures you experience the authentic local lifestyle every step of the way. The experiences you have on this trip with Joshua are unforgettable. You can’t really book this kind of tour anywhere else. He knows the region and the people. And most importantly, the locals know him. His planning and the way he interacts with the locals mean that they really open up and show you things you’d never get to see as a regular tourist. I chose the tour to Guinea-Bissau. The trip was completely planned from start to finish; I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Looking back, I have to say that the price was actually far too low for the experiences I was able to have. The nature of the group tour also ensures that you automatically meet new people who are interested in similar things and usually have very similar mindsets. As for the destination, all I can say is that West Africa itself is absolutely underrated. There are hardly any tourists, which has an absolutely positive effect on interactions with the local population. (Hardly any begging, everyone is absolutely friendly, and the hospitality is incredible.) You get the feeling that the locals are simply happy and proud to be able to show you their country. Anyone who has experienced West Africa in this Way will see the world through a different perspective. It’s a journey full of learning, countless adventures, and pure joy of living.

I went on Josh’s first group trip and it was fantastic. I loved immersing myself in a new culture while also gaining local experiences, all in a familiar setting. It did take some getting used to the time management, but finally, despite the many new impressions, I was able to enjoy wonderfully unstructured time and relax.

It was an amazing, well-organized 2-week experience. From adventurous boat rides and camping on a barely touched beautiful island, to the colorful and joyous celebration of Guniea-Bissau Carneval, the trip brought me closer the beautiful culture and nature of the country.
